The Philadelphia Phillies was one of the best teams in the league last season, which means that they will enter the 2024 MLB Draft with the 27th overall pick. It is never easy to predict where baseball's top prospects will land, especially at the end of the first round.
Over the last 10 years, the Philadelphia Phillies have had mixed results when it comes to making selections in the MLB Draft. The club has had a few hits who are currently contributing to the club such as Aaron Nola (2014), Alec Bohm (2018), and Bryson Stott (2019).

When predicting what Philadelphia might do in the 2024 MLB Draft, it's important to look at their current top prospects and which positions the team might be looking to bolster. At this point of the draft, the Phillies may simply look to take the best player available as their farm system is quite diverse. If there was a position that they could target, it might be in the outfield.
Dakota Jordan could be an intriguing target for the Phillies in the 2024 MLB draft
If Philadelphia is targeting an outfielder with the 27th pick of the draft, one of the prospects they could consider with the pick is Dakota Jordan out of Mississippi State. The young outfield prospect has some serious raw power, although other aspects of his game need to be ironed out.
"Dakota Jordan. Walk-off home run. You couldn't have written this ending any better" - @gnybarra
The fact that the Phils have a loaded roster with veteran stars such as Bryce Harper which suggests that the team could take a risk on a young player with high potential. The team would not rely on Jordan coming up to the majors right away, so they could allow him to develop in the minor leagues for a few seasons.
At 6-foot and 220 pounds, Jordan has the athletic frame to develop into a solid power-hitter for Philadelphia. Plus, as a former wide receiver, Jordan is a tremendous athlete, which could help him on defense and the base paths. The outfielder was tremendous for Mississippi State this season, posting an impressive .354 batting average with 20 home runs and 72 RBIs.
