Framber Valdez vs Chris Bassitt
The Astros will look to lefthander Framber Valdez as they look to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday to wrap up a four-game series.
A two-time Al-Star, Valdez will be making fifteenth start of the season. So far, the 30 year-old Dominican has pitched to a 3.80 ERA across 85 innings. However, Valdez has historically struggled against the Jays, and owns a 4.11 ERA in five career games.
Veteran Chris Bassitt will get the ball for Toronto. Now 7-6 with a 3.24 ERA on the season, Bassitt tossed six scoreless innings against the New York Yankees in his last start on June 29.
Frankie Montas vs Marcus Stroman
After injuries limited him to just nine starts in two years as a member of the New York Yankees, Frankie Montas inked a one-year, $16 million deal with the Reds.
On Thursday, the 31 year-old will take the ball as Cincinnati aims to sweep the Yankees in the Bronx for the first time in decades. Montas will bring a 3-6 record and a 4.23 ERA into the affair.
For the Yankees, Marcus Stroman will seek to defend the Yankees against their first three-game sweep this season. In 17 starts this season, Stroman owns a 7-3 record to accompany his 3.29 ERA. In his last start against Toronto, Stroman lasted just 4.1 innings, and gave up three earned runs.

Kenta Maeda vs Bailey Ober
Kenta Maeda wil start for the Detroit Tigers against Twins pitcher Bailey Ober in the AL Central matchup.
Ober has been one of the best pitchers for the Twins recently, and even spun a complete game shutout against the A's on June 22. Equipped with a 1.69 ERA since June 15, Ober is 7-4 with a 4.30 ERA on the season.
The 2024 MLB season has been a struggle for 36 year-old Kenta Maeda. Now 2-4 on the season, Maeda's 5.76 ERA is the highest it has ever been at this point of the season. However, against the Minnesota Twins, a former team of his, Maeda is 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA in 11 career innings.
Corbin Burnes vs Bryce Miller
25 year-old Bryce Miller will face former Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes in the series finale between the Baltimore Orioles and Seattle Mariners on Thursday.
Burnes enters the game with an ERA of 2.28, which is the third-lowest figure in MLB. Now 9-3 on the season, Burnes tossed seven innings, allowing just one run in his last start against the Texas Rangers on June 27.

Consistency remains an issue for sophomore starter Bryce Miller. Now 6-7 with a 3.88 ERA on the season, the young Texan has been charged with eight runs over his past nine innings of work. On May 17, Miller was yanked after just 5.1 innings for allowing four earned runs against Baltimore.
Michael King vs Max Scherzer
Three-time Cy Young winner Max Scherzer will be making his third start since returning from injury in mid-June. Now 1-1 with a 1.74 ERA, the 39 year-old veteran hurled five shutout innings in his last start against Kansas City. Scherzer will take the ball for the Rangers against the San Diego Padres on Thursday.
