There's a buzz of excitement around $765 million man Juan Soto after his record-breaking contract with the New York Mets. Sportscaster Keith Raad is excited to see him play alongside Francisco Lindor.
The-26-year-old outfielder was introduced as a Mets player in a press conference at Citi Field on Thursday after months of speculation about his future. On Baseball Night in NY, Raad said that the Soto and Lindor partnership could be as good as any in the MLB, if not better:
"You have Trea Turner and Bryce Harper in the National League. Okay, they're pretty good. You go out West with Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr."
"I like Soto and Lindor... if you're talking duos, they're number one."
The New York Mets signed Francisco Lindor on a similar long-term contract to Juan Soto in 2021 and reportedly also used a similar pitch to convince him.
The Puerto Rican signed a 10-year, $341 million contract with the Mets just months after being traded there. At that time, owner Steve Cohen promised to build a competitive team and has devilered on his promise.
Now, having signed Juan Soto to a 15-year, $765 million contract, the two biggest names in the Mets roster are set to build a formidable partnership. According to broadcaster Keith Raad, the Dodgers have the deadliest lineup with the trio of Ohtani, Freeman and Betts, but the Mets duo isn't far behind.
Keith believes that the Soto-Lindor partnership has the potential to be more impressive than the Harper-Turner and Machado-Tatis Jr. tandems in the upcoming MLB season.
Juan Soto gives his take on playing alongside Francisco Lindor next season with the Mets
Juan Soto was unveiled as a New York Mets player at Citi Field on Thursday evening as their marquee signing this offseason. Speaking to the media after his presentaion, Soto expressed his eagerness to lead the Mets lineup alongside Francisco Lindor.
"It's going to be great, a one-two punch ... whenever those two guys at the top set the tone, it's going to be good"
Soto went on to acknowledge that you cannot win the World Series with just two players. However, he hopes that he can build a strong partnership with Lindor at the top of the order and bring the best out of the rest of the team.
