The Arizona Diamondbacks' rotation for next season, with the addition of Corbin Burnes, is shaping up to be the dark horse in the National League. Previously anchored by All-Star Zac Gallen and supplemented by Merrill Kelly, the team now boasts the arm of a Cy Young winner.

The four-time All-Star signed a six-year, $210 million deal with the D'backs as they look to be a contender in the NL West after missing out on the playoffs last season.

In the presser that unveiled Burnes as the newest member of the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, super agent Scott Boras shared how ecstatic Gallen was when he heard the news of Corbin Burnes' signing. Both pitchers are represented by Boras.

"When I called Zac [Gallen] that he was going to team up with Corbin [Burnes], I've never heard of him being more excited," Boras claimed. (15:43 onwards).

Boras praised Arizona's leadership and stated that with the signing of Burnes, teams now treat them as a bigger threat.

"I must say, after Corbin Burnes agreed to the deal, I've heard it from many other teams that Arizona is now a subject of concern of teams that have playoff aspirations."

Diamondbacks owner Ken Kendrick expresses enthusiasm over Corbin Burnes' signing

During the press conference that followed the unveiling of Corbin Burnes, Arizona Diamondbacks owner Ken Kendrick spoke about the future of the franchise with Burnes' addition.

"It was dubbed as a "stealth transaction." We weren't anticipated to be in the sweepstakes for a top player, but at the end of the day, we proved otherwise."
"Credit should go to Corbin and Scott. We have Corbin who values family. It's clear that he wanted to be a Diamondback, that's the root of our partnership. He's a top talent and there were a lot of options for him and could have settled for a bigger payday but he chose to be here and we're delighted that he did."
"He'll do well with this contract and hopefully, we'll do better as a team with him as a part of the rotation."

Kendrick was alluding to the reports that surfaced that the major factor as to why the D'backs were successful in capturing Burnes was his family. It was widely reported that Burnes' family lived in the Phoenix area, and the pitcher wanted to be close and spend time with them so he ultimately chose the squad that was closest to home.
