The first game of the World Baseball Classic (WBC) between the Netherlands and Cuba is being played at the Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium in Taichung, Taiwan. In the early stages, however, an unusual entity has stolen the limelight. An airhorn is being constantly heard as the coverage continues.

The game between the Netherlands and Cuba is the first of Pool A that also consists of Panama, Italy and the hosts Taiwan. All of the games are going to place in Taichung and only two table toppers will advance into the next round.

The Netherlands would be looking to go two better after coming up short in the previous two editions of the WBC. Cuba, on the other hand, haven't made the finals since 2006 but have shown strong performances. However, they are yet to go past the second round in since their championship game appearance.

The WBC is being held after six years and quite fittingly all fans are excited to witness. However, the airhorn has proven to be of massive annoyance and fans took to Twitter to share their annoyance:

Fans outrightly called the horn a madness and requested it to be stopped. Whereas another fan was quick to side with the Netherlands after different tweets suggesting that the airhorn was being blown by a Cuban fan.

Fans even caught a glimpse of the person behind the horn and posted him on Twitter declaring him as 'public enemy number 1'.

Quite unsurprisingly, fans compared the sound of the horn to the Venezuelan horn sounds at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Other reactions mostly included some fun and quirky GIFs from baseball fans all over the world.

Team USA and Team Domincan Republic the favourites to win WBC 2023

Expectations are high from the winners of the last two editions of the WBC: Team USA (2017) and Dominican Republic (2013). Both teams have stacked their rosters with some star studded players who feature regularly in the MLB. Team USA has the likes of Mike Trout, Mookie Betts, Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt.

Whereas, Team DR is another favorite with strong names in their lineup: Julio Rodriguez, Juan Soto, Manny Machado and Sandy Alcantara. Team Japan cannot be ruled out too, backed up by the one-man force that can win a championship on his own, Shohei Ohtani.
