Juan Soto has turned into one of the most electrifying players in today's game. From his sheer power at the plate all the way to the "Soto-shuffle," he has captured the attention of baseball fans.
Since entering the league in 2018, he's become a two-time All-Star, a World Series champion (2019), and the National League batting champion (2020). He's had quite the career so far, but one statistic truly shows how elite Soto is at the plate.
He has a career OBP of .502 when he sees a first-pitch ball. That's an insane statistic. His knowledge of the strike zone and the patience he has in the box is incredible to watch. There's no point where he doesn't look like he's in control at the plate.
It doesn't look like he's going to slow down either. Juan Soto has been getting better with each passing season. San Diego Padres fans have huge expectations for the All-Star now that he'll have a full season in San Diego.
"He's so elite man," one fan tweeted.
"One of the more ridiculous stats I've ever heard," said another fan.
Fans can't get over how good he is, especially his vision at the plate. In the last two seasons, he's led the league in walks.
The league average in 2022, when batters saw a first-pitch ball was .371. Soto blew this out of the water.
Watch out for Juan Soto and the San Diego Padres this season
At the time of writing, Vegas has Juan Soto as the favorite to win the National League MVP Award. He's followed by Mookie Betts and his teammate Fernando Tatis Jr.
The Padres are going to be one of the teams that everyone will be on the lookout for. Manny Machado, Tatis Jr., Soto, and Xander Bogaerts are all on the same team. That's four easy All-Stars, and we haven't even gotten to their pitching rotation yet.
Their pitching rotation is about as good as it gets. They have Yu Darvish, Blake Snell, Joe Musgrove, and Michael Wacha. They also got Josh Hader and Robert Suarez to round out their bullpen.
This team will be one of the more exciting teams to watch this season.
