Mookie Betts Bowling Career: Highlighting the best moments from the Dodgers All-Star's alternate sports career

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts is known for his feats on the field. Betts was part of the best-hitting team in 2022, registering 117 runs of his own, which was enough for him to lead the league in that category.

However, many baseball fans might not know that Betts has another interest: bowling. The Tennessee-native was introduced to bowling by his mother and played the game alongside baseball for the entirety of his youth.

He was named the Tennessee Boys Bowler of the Year for 2010 after he smashed nearly every record in his high school's history. Even before his MLB career, Betts was becoming known for his pin-hitting abilities.

Betts was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2011, and began playing for them in 2014. However, his bowling career did not take a hit, and was in fact just starting off. Betts competed in the World Series of Bowling in Reno, Nevada, in 2015 and 2017.

He has successfully bowled three perfect 300 games. This means that he bowled a strike in every frame of the game, effectively meaning he has bowled 12 consecutive strikes on three occasions.

Betts competed in and won the CP3 PBA Celebrity Invitational, a bowling tournament commissioned by Phoenix Suns NBA star Chris Paul. Betts bested pro bowler Tommy Jones in the final, earning the tournament's championship trophy.

After winning the AL MVP Award with the Red Sox in 2018, Betts was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers along with pitcher David Price for Alex Verdugo, Jeter Downs and Connor Wong. He has hit 74 home runs and 179 RBIs since joining the Dodgers in 2020.

In late 2022, while the Dodgers were waiting for their NLDS matchup against the San Diego Padres, Mookie Betts was caught on camera bowling a perfect strike.

Betts has spoken about the balance that is mutually beneficial to a bowler as well as a baseball batter. Betts' balance was certainly on for his team in 2022, combining with NL hits leader Freddie Freeman to comprise one of the best lineups in all of baseball. It may be true that all those strikes counted toward his past performances in the batters box.
