There seems to be nothing that Mookie Betts cannot do. Not only did the superstar add a third World Series ring to his Hall-of-Fame resume, but he has also gone viral online for his abilities at the bowling alley.
Earlier this season, the talented outfielder showcased his athletic versatilty by making the difficult jump to the infield.
While he eventually returned to the outfield later in the season, it appears that he will have another opportunity to flash his infielding abilities again in 2025. According to MLB insider Bob Nightengale, the Los Angeles Dodgers will move the star back to the infield next season.
Although he was unclear whether he will play second base or shortstop, Mookie has shown the ability to play both positions.
While he has not been perfect in the infield, he has the athletic ability and the baseball IQ to continually improve on his skills. Perhaps more interestingly, as a result of Betts moving to the infield, the Dodgers will have an opening in the outfield which could lead to considerable speculation throughout the offseason.
If Betts is able to perform as a full-time infielder, the Dodgers can shift their focus to free-agent outfielders. Even though the Dodgers already have a star-studded roster, thanks to the heavily-deferred contract of Shohei Ohtani, the club could still sign a superstar to a considerable deal.
One of the notable names that has been linked to the Dodgers is Juan Soto. While it may be more likely that he signs with the New York Mets or New York Yankees, there is a chance that the 26-year-old could look at the reigning World Series champions as a potential landing spot.
Betts is the gift that keeps on giving, and if the reported move back to the infield takes place, it would allow the front office to put another star next to him in the lineup. Unsurprisingly, the Dodgers are going to be one of the most interesting teams to monitor throughout the offseason.
Mookie Betts says he wants to keep winning World Series rings with Los Angeles
As we have seen in the past, sometimes World Series champions struggle to contend after winning the title, including the Texas Rangers this past season. That being said, this does not seem like it will be the case with the Dodgers given their current contracts and roster.
During the team's World Series parade celebration, Betts, who has now won three titles, said that he hopes to fill up his hand with championship rings while in Los Angeles. Even if they don't land a superstar of Juan Soto's ilk, this current iteration has all the makings of a potential dynasty.
