Mookie Betts has played against a lot of players and he himself has almost won it all. He is a sure shot to Cooperstown when all is said and done. If he has to pick one or two guys, who have been one of the modern-day greats, they are Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani.

Trout, who plays for LA Angels, has struggled to keep himself healthy throughout the season in the past few years. He had his peak moments during the 2010s, where he won three AL MVPs, with an argument following that he should have won at least five in that decade. Meanwhile, Ohtani, 30, has already won three MVPs and is only going to add more, if he stays upright in the upcoming seasons.

Betts joined former NBA star Matt Barnes on his "All the Smoke" podcast, where he shared his two cents on Trout and what he expects of him in 2025.

"Seeing what Sho’s gotten to do, or even with Mike Trout—even though he’s gotten hurt—I just wish he could stay healthy," Betts said (18:50 onwards). "If he just didn’t get hurt, I hope he plays next year and does not get hurt. I just want to see, like, how good is he."

Betts elaborated on Trout’s unmatched ability when he’s on the field.

"When he plays, it’s crazy—it’s crazy. If God, man, lets that man be healthy for one year, dude, I think he’s going to go crazy. But we’re going to see."

Talking about modern-day greats in baseball, Mookie Betts is not all that far behind Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout. The eight-time All-Star has already won three World Series, an AL MVP in 2018, six Gold Glove Awards and seven Silver Slugger awards.

However, Betts made it clear that personal accolades aren’t his primary focus.

"I do it just ’cause I love doing it. I love the grind. I love going to the park and knowing that I’m not going to figure it out, but it’s fun when it does click," he said on the podcast.

Mookie Betts has good years ahead of him as he feels he can fill all his fingers with World Series rings by the time he calls his career. He needs two more World Series to do so and the way the Dodgers are stacked, the possibility is high.
