However, things turned south for the eight-time All-Star when he suffered a left-hand fracture after getting hit by a 98-mph fastball against the Kansas City Royals on June 16. He was sidelined for two months but has been making steady progress toward a comeback.

According to Dodgers reporter David Vassegh, Betts has said that he isn't feeling any pain or discomfort in his fractured left arm.

"I don't feel anything at all" - Mookie Betts said.

The superstar also talked about the possibility of playing in a different position after his return.

"There's a lot of guys that can play SS here. If that's not in the cards then that's cool. ... I can go from there to anywhere else."

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Betts will play a simulated game at Dodger Stadium on Thursday before returning on Aug 12 or 13 during the trip to Milwaukee.

Betts' return will be a much-needed boost for the Dodgers, which is missing key players like Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Walker Buehler, Max Muncy, Chris Taylor and Miguel Rojas, who are all on the IL.

Before his injury, Betts played 72 games for the Dodgers, hitting at .304, with .892 OPS, 10 HRs and 40 RBIs.

Last week, Dave Roberts said that he observed Mookie Betts' fielding practice and is optimistic about the player's availability in the "next couple of weeks."

"Mookie looks great. Saw him taking more grounders today and running around. He took some swings today, felt good swinging the bat. It showed enough grip strength to take some swings. He did say it was weak, which is to be expected.” Roberts said.

The Dodgers are atop the NL West with a 65-47 record as they look to make the postseason. Having Betts back will be a welcome boost.
