Mookie Betts and the Los Angeles Dodgers are coming off a miserable night at Dodger Stadium after a shocking 10-2 Game 2 loss against the San Deigo Padres on Sunday. The Padres rebounded from their Game 1 defeat to tie the NLDS at 1-1.
The Dodgers struggled miserably with their pitching, while Yu Darvish rocked their offense. Betts smashed one against Darvish, and it almost went over. However, Jurickson Profar made an incredible leap over the wall to rob Betts of the home run.
Betts has been a shining star for the Boys in Blue, but his postseason performances since last season have been a bit of a disaster. As the Talkin' Baseball account pointed out on X, it turns out that Betts has gone 0 for his last 22 in the postseason since last year. While every player has their ups and downs, and it might just be a tiny slump for Betts, some MLB fans beg to differ.
Fans took to social media to share their thoughts on Mookie Betts' slumping performance.
Here's a look at some of the fan reactions on X.
"Mookie Betts' just not built for this man," wrote one fan.
"Playoff choker my God," another fan responded.
"Bro went on jimmy kimmel before the series like he was gonna be a star on the field," wrote another fan.
Comments continued to flow as several fans trolled Betts for his numbers.
"October Mookie is back!" one fan chipped in, sarcastically.
"Last year? No, he hasn't had a postseason hit since Game 3 of the 2022 NLDS," added one fan.
"But he's 22 for 22 on podcasts," another fan chimed in.
Mookie Betts sheds light on recent slump
Betts opened up on his recent slump after their game against the Padres. Betts praised Darvish for his performance and said that he was doing his best on the plate, but it wasn't good enough.
"I don't know what to really say about it, I'm giving my best, doing my best, it's obviously not good enough right now. It's really frustrating but I just got to keep going and hopefully it turns," Mookie Betts said per the LA Times.
The Dodgers will be forced to play Game 4 against their NL West rival after dropping Game 2. Failing to make it to the World Series would be a disaster for Dave Roberts and his squad, who have lost in the NLDS in each of the last two seasons.
