Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts and his wife Brianna spread Christmas cheers to UCLA Health paediatric ward with special gifts and Dodgers-autographed keepsakes for the patients and the nursing staff. UCLA Health is one of the most recognized and respected hospital chains aiding patients and their families in over 280 locations throughout Southern California.
UCLA health's official social media channel shared some delightful images of Mookie Betts and his wife Brianna chatting with the patients and the nursing staff, giving away Christmas gifts alongside lots of Dodgers goodies. The couple also clicked pictures with them.
"Mookie stopped by @uclahealth to visit patients and spread holiday cheer! He and his wife Brianna gifted pediatric patients Dodger merch and helped them pick out Christmas gifts at the center’s holiday boutique," the Dodgers captioned their Instagram post on Betts and his wife's visit,
Speaking about the joyous Christmas drive, Mookie Betts said:
“It’s always super special to try and share the cheer that Santa brings to everyone. Sometimes it gets kind of tough being in these rooms, so any little splash of joy, any splash of joy I can bring, I’ll do my best. Thank God the Dodgers are helping.”
The Dodgers have a long standing tie with UCLA hospital where the Dodgers Foundation hosts patients from the hospital at Dodger Stadium every season and in turn the organization arranges player visits to the hosiptal.
Reflecting on their sound relationship with UCLA Health, Dodgers vice president of community and government affairs Kristin McCowan said:
"Nothing puts a smile on a child’s face like meeting their favorite athlete or getting a surprise visit from one of Santa’s helpers. Today, we were able to do that for some of the most deserving children in Los Angeles."
Mookie Betts and his wife, Brianna, help the community via 50/50 Foundation
Mookie and his wife founded the 50/50 Foundation in 2021 with the goal to aide the youth in their community complete goals and achieve success in their lives. They provide support both on and off the field with resources in the fields of financial literacy, nutrition, physical activity, and mental health.
In November, the 50/50 charity alongside Dodgers Foundation hosted the annual Thanksgiving grab & go event in partnership with Brotherhood Crusade to spread joy and happinnes among various demographics of the community. The event was successfully led by Mookie, his wife, and other family members.
