Trevor Bauer has been having a good time with Diablos Rojos del Mexico of the Mexican League. Since signing the contract extension for the 2024 season, the 33-year-old has shown his prowess with the team.
In last Friday’s game against the Olmecas de Tabasco, Bauer pitched for 7.2 innings, allowing seven hits and giving one earned run while striking out seven with a 1.48 ERA. However, the right-hander aimed to achieve one more strikeout to win a bet with his teammates.
Although Trevor Bauer didn't win the bet as the batter grounded out, he did enjoy the moment, sharing the video on his Instagram account along with his team’s account and commenting 'Pride bet' on it.
Several fans reacted to the video by sharing their reactions in the comment section.
“This is the most entertaining baseball has been since the steroid era,” a fan wrote.
“Lmao I don’t get bored watching these,” another fan wrote.
“Love your videos big dawg!” another fan said.
Many other fans continued to demand Trevor Bauer’s return to the MLB:
“Put this man BACK in the MLB right now. He was screwed,” a comment reads.
“@Brewers sign Bauer. Imma keep on doing this until he’s back in the MLB, so might as well just sign him so I can stop bugging y’all,” another comment reads.
“@Sfgiants PLEASE SIGN THIS MAN,” a fan wrote.
Trevor Bauer hasn’t pitched in the major leagues since 2021. In that year, he had a record of 8 wins and 5 losses with a 2.59 ERA in 17 starts.
In March 2024, the NL Cy Young Award winner announced that he would start the 2024 season with Diablos Rojos del Mexico. He later signed a contract extension for the rest of the season with them.
Trevor Bauer frustrated about potential external interference affecting his career
In 2022, Trevor Bauer was suspended from MLB for 324 games for violating the league's policies on domestic violence and sexual assault. Although Bauer was never charged or arrested, no Major League team came forward to sign him. In a tweet earlier this month, he addressed the situation:
“The only logical explanation for why I don’t have a job in the big leagues right now is that teams are being told they cannot sign me. And that’s a serious problem.”
Bauer has been eagerly awaiting his return to the big leagues. However, with him committed to the LMB for the rest of the season, it seems unlikely that will happen anytime soon.
