Fans reacted as Dodgers infielder Max Muncy met his namesake, who plays for the Oakland Athletics triple-A affiliates, the Las Vegas Aviators. The Oakland A's drafted both players, who share the same name.
The Athletics selected Max (Dodgers) in the fifth round of the 2012 MLB draft, while they selected his namesake, who is with their minor league team, in the 2021 MLB draft.

While the younger Max Muncy is yet to make his debut in the big leagues with the A's, the elder played with the Oakland Athletics in 2015 and 2016 before signing a minor league contract with the Dodgers in 2017. He was called up to the Dodgers roster before the 2018 MLB season and has become an integral part of the team since then.
He earned All-Star nods in the 2019 and 2021 seasons, while he won his maiden World Series ring with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2020.
Both Max Muncys meet up during a minor league game
While Max Muncy (Dodgers) is completing his rehab program to recover from an oblique strain, he played his last game in the MiLB with the Dodgers' triple-A affiliates, the Oklahoma City Dodgers, who took on the Athletics' triple-A affiliates, the Las Vegas Aviators.
"It was awesome. Obviously, it's been a long time coming. Obviously I'm from L.A., so I hear about him all the time, and I get all the questions," said Las Vegas' Muncy to the MLB.com after the meet-up.
The Dodgers will be hopeful that their third baseman, Max Muncy, can make a quick return to the roster and continue from where he left off on June 21.
