Baltimore Orioles' top prospect, Jackson Holliday's MLB debut did not go the way he had hoped, lasting just 10 games and hitting .059/.111/.059 with only two hits in 34 at-bats. He was then demoted back down to Triple-A, which took its toll on the young slugger.
It was clear that Holliday still had some room to grow, and after sending him down, the club recalled Ryan McKenna to help fill the roster spot.
Despite the hitch, Holliday has a strong supporting cast. His wife, Chloe, uplifted the athlete in an Instagram post, alongside the caption:
"My guy always proud of you and your love for the Lord and the game"
Even during his struggles, Chloe is proud of what Jackson has accomplished thus far. The two were high school sweethearts growing up and married in January 2024.
Will the Orioles recall Jackson Holliday at some point this season?
At the start of the year, the Baltimore Orioles seemed hesitant to call up Jackson Holliday. While he had all the hype, they were nervous about rushing him sooner than he was ready. That seemed to be the case when Holliday could not get it going at the plate. He looked overpowered by the jump from the minors to the big leagues.
As Baltimore fights for first place in the American League East, it cannot afford any liabilities out there, especially with the way the New York Yankees have been playing. It also did not help Jackson with the way Jorge Mateo has been playing at second base.
However, when Mateo went down with an injury earlier in June, Baltimore did not call on Holliday to replace him. Instead, they called up Connor Norby, which raised some questions amongst the fanbase.
While it seems Holliday has fallen down the team's list, it would be surprising if he remained in the minors all season long. Many clubs call up their prospects when rosters open for the postseason, and this could be when Holliday rejoins the big-league squad.
