Shohei Ohtani hails Dodgers batboy for saving his face from a hard hit foul ball

LA Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani avoided injuring his face from a hard hit line drive at Guaranteed Rate Field during Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

As Shotime was standing on the stairs of the LAD dugout, a hard-hit foul ball came right towards him. While Ohtani ducked for cover, the batboy who was standing right in front of him casually barehanded the ball to save the ace from getting hurt.

The batboy named Javi never flinched as he crossed the searing line, while Shohei Ohtani and his teammates could be observed scrambling for cover. Post-game, various media outlets interviewed the batboy for his heroic save, and Ohtani captured that moment and posted it on his Instagram story with the caption:

In Wednesday's series finale against the Chicago White Sox, Shotime continued his hitting streak for the Dodgers as he smashed a solo home run, scored two runs, and drew two walks to help the LAD shutout their opponents 4-0 and sweep them in the three-game series away from home.

Shohei Ohtani is paying back every penny of the massive deal that he signed with the organization this past offseason in gold. The two-way ace had signed the biggest contract in US sports history, which stood at $700 million over ten years.

Despite not being able to pitch this season, the two-way superstar is making an emphatic case for himself with the bat, and his searing offensive numbers are a testament to the talents and skills possessed by him.

Shohei Ohtani is leading the offensive numbers for the Dodgers in 2024

Midway through the season, and Ohtani has just sat out for three games out of the 82 played. His offensive numbers are off the charts this season, and not many can replicate his dedication and discipline at the plate. Shohei Ohtani leads the Dodgers roster in batting average (.322), home runs (25), RBIs (61), and hits (100).

Shotime is in the top three tiers when it comes to various offensive stats in the entire league. He has an OPS of 1.045. Ohtani's continued success at the plate will be crucial for the Dodgers as they aim to reclaim the elusive NL pennant and possibly win the World Series in 2024.
