Francisco Lindor's wife, Katia, shared concerning news about the state of her native country, Venezuela, at the moment. Katia, a proud Venezuelan, condemned the atrocities her people are going through amid nation-wide protests against the country's latest election results.

The nationwide unrest prompted Katia to use her social media and share the updates from her home country. She believes "her people are getting killed, kidnapped, tortured and deprived of their voting rights."

"Just like other international issues that have been a topic of conversation in recent months, please help ensure that what is happening in Venezuela is not invisible to the rest of the world, and hopefully, soon we will finally be a free country!" she wrote in her story.

In her next story, she alleged that the dictatorial regime is keeping things in the dark internationally while unleashing atrocities within the country.

"The violence against our people is immense, and the amount of wounded and missing people is growing rapidly. Please keep learning and sharing as you can. We deserve better," she added.

What's happening in Katia Lindor's native Venezuela?

Katia Lindor's post came following the latest election results, which crowned Nicolas Maduro the winner in Sunday’s vote for president of the country.

According to Aljajeera, Maduro obtained 51 percent of the votes, compared to 46 percent for opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez. The results have led to nation-wide protests, with allegations of fraud.

Opposition leader Maria Corina Machado have joined the protestors in the streets of Carcas. Many joined in her support, waving the national flag and standing in support of Maria, whom they believe should have won the presidential election.

“Just as it took us a long time to achieve electoral victory, now comes a stage that we take day by day, but we have never been as strong as today, never,” Machado told supporters in Caracas via Aljajeera.

Human Rights Watch reports that at least 20 individuals have been killed in post-election protests.

International diplomats have also expressed how they feel about the results. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday sided with opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez as the winner. Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama and Uruguay have also said the same.

However, countries including Russia, China and Cuba have congratulated Maduro for his win.
