Nestor Cortes Jr. is enjoying the offseason. The new Milwaukee Brewers star spent the evening on December 29 with his wife on the beach, and Alondra Esteras Russy shared a picture of him to her Instagram story.

She prefaced it with a selfie of her own on the beach before showing off her husband. In the photo, Cortes is rocking some diamond jewelry, a beard, a cigar, and a hat.

The beard is an offseason thing for Cortes, who became notable with the New York Yankees partly because of his iconic mustache. The Yankees don't allow beards, so Cortes got creative.

During the offseason, lots of Yankees players grow beards because they're finally able to. Cortes is no longer a Yankee following the blockbuster Devin Williams trade, so he may end up keeping the beard he's sporting in the photo for the season.

Cortes and his then-girlfriend got engaged after the 2022 All-Star Game, where Cortes pitched. They then got married in November 2023 and have now passed one year of marriage together.

In his second stint with the New York Yankees, Nestor Cortes Jr. really caught on. He had bounced around with a few teams, but he finally stuck when the Yankees brought him back. He made an All-Star team and last year pitched the most innings of any pitcher in New York.

Unfortunately, his time with the Yanks came to an end prematurely. They wanted Devin Williams from the Milwaukee Brewers, but to get talent, one must also give some up. They packaged Cortes, who had perhaps been pushed out of the rotation by the Max Fried signing, with Caleb Durbin for Williams.

It's a big change for the pitcher, who will likely be a workhorse for Milwaukee in his contract year. At the time the trade was announced, his wife Alondra shared the news to her story and paired it with the Future song "Jersey."
