The New York Yankees are preparing to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 of the World Series on Monday. As the action shifts to New York, Yankees pitcher Nestor Cortes Jr.'s wife has a little message for their opponents.
On Instagram, Alondra Cortes hyped up Game 3 with a four-word message.
"THIS AIN'T OVER YET," she wrote.
There was heavy criticism directed towards Cortes after Game 1 as he gave up the walk-off home run to Freddie Freeman. With the game tied at 2-2 after regulation, the Bronx Bombers went ahead by a run in the 10th.
The Dodgers got two base runners with Shohei Ohtani coming to the plate. Aaron Boone brought on Cortes, who hadn't pitched in 37 days, to take on Ohtani because of a previous head-to-head record.
He got Ohtani off a flyout. New York then decided to intentionally walk Mookie Betts so that Cortes could keep the leftie-to-leftie matchup going against Freeman. But on the first pitch of the at-bat, Cortes was smoked for a home run into deep right field.
Nestor Cortes Jr.'s wife Alondra has been a constant companion throughout the postseason
Nestor and Alondra Cortes have been together for almost a decade now. The pair reportedly started dating in 2015. After seven years, Cortes asked her for her hand in marriage in the 2022 All-Star week. The pair got married in the offseason last year.
As a newlywed couple, they are often seen together. Alondra's Instagram profile has posts covering the big moments of her life with the Yankees superstar pinned. Throughout this postseason, she has been a big support even though he was left off the roster for the first two rounds.
It remains to be seen if Cortes would be needed out of the bullpen in any of the remaining games.
