The New York Yankees added two former MVPs to their ranks this offseason. They signed the 2022 NL MVP Paul Goldschmidt on a one-year, $12.5 million deal and traded for the 2019 NL MVP Cody Bellinger from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for Cody Poteet. The Yankees also received $5 million in cash considerations to cover Bellinger's salary.

Both sluggers, who had lackluster 2024 seasons, will join and hit alongside two-time AL MVP and Yankees captain Aaron Judge and 2017 NL MVP Giancarlo Stanton, glimpses of whom we saw in the 2024 ALCS series.

Following the signing, Goldschmidt made his feelings known about joining a different club with familiar faces on it.

"I was very, very excited to be a Yankee and just glad it worked out," Goldschmidt said.
"I still have that excitement, knowing guys like Judge and Stanton, who I played with on Team USA. And even Booney — he used to live in Arizona before he took the job here. Him and I lived in the same neighborhood."

Fans reacted to the post revealing Goldschmidt's reaction to joining the star-studded squad. Some applauded the players mentioned, while others noted their shortcomings in recent seasons.

"How much help does Oswaldo Cabrera," one fan posted.
"All that to lose to the Dodgers in 5," one fan took a sarcastic jab.
"I mean they have some hitters but they aren't consistent hitters lol Goldy is pretty washed but maybe he was just sick of playing for the Card," another said.

Some fans pointed at the age group Yankees have signed in the offseason.

"The new retirement home: the new york Yankees," one fan took jab at organization for signing veterans.
"It’s going to be awkward for Belli Bongs and Stanton in the clubhouse. 😂😂😂," another wrote.
"Belli is the youngest and turns 30 in July, Yankees are always an older team," another added.

Paul Goldschmidt shares thoughts on former Yankee Juan Soto

The Yankees signing Paul Goldschmidt has a lot to do with the fact that Brian Cashman missed out on Juan Soto, who signed a record 15-year, $765 million deal with the New York Mets.

That led the Yankees to sign the Cardinals legend to replace the power output of Soto. In a conversation with SNY, Goldschmidt was full of praise for the star outfielder.

"I was watching Soto, I mean, everyone was watching, you know to see where he was going to end up," Paul Goldschmidt said (17:00 onwards).
"You know, again, potentially the best hitter on the planet, one of them for sure, and he had such a great year. So, happy for him and again, he's gonna play great for the Mets."
