New York Mets pitcher Max Scherzer sees the new pitch clock rule as an opportunity to show his on-field prowess

Max Scherzer, a three-time Cy Young Award winner and one of the best pitchers in baseball, believes that the new pitch clock rule change will be an advantage for him. The rule changes are part of a larger effort by MLB to speed up the pace of the game and reduce the time between pitches. Scherzer is known for his quick pace on the mound, and he believes that the new rule changes will allow him to work even faster.

Under the new rule changes, hitters must be in the box and ready to face the pitch within eight seconds, otherwise it's a strike. Also, with the bases empty, pitchers will now have 15 seconds to begin their motion once the catcher returns the ball to them and 20 seconds between pitches with runners on. This is an attempt by the MLB to speed up the game, making it more interesting for the viewers.

Other rule changes that will be enforced by the MLB include changes in the size of the bases, which will be increased to 18-inch squares instead of 15-inch squares. Another change is that teams will no longer be allowed to shift their infielders, which means that two infielders must be placed on each side of the second base and all four infielders must be in the infield area when the ball is pitched.

In a press conference last night, New York Mets pitcher Max Scherzer gave his opinion about the new pitch clock:

"It plays right into my hand. I've always wanted to work quick. The only reason I've never been able to work quick is because the hitter can always call timeout. So the fact that a hitter can only call a timeout once an at-bat, now I can actually dictate pace. Now I can actually force action. So, for me, I'm going to definitely like that."

What can we expect from Max Scherzer and the New York Mets this season?

While Max Scherzer is confident about the new rule changes in the game, he will have plenty of competition for a starting spot this season. The New York Mets have acquired another veteran starting pitcher in the form of Justin Verlander, who will also be rearing to kick-start his Mets career.

Only time will tell how the new rule changes will impact baseball. But for Max Scherzer, at least, the changes seem to be a welcome development. He is eager to get back on the mound and is aiming for a second World Series.
