Tobias Myers started out for the Brewers, while Jose Quintana took the mound for New York. Both teams managed to get on base several times but failed to score in the first three innings. Myers and Quintana had a strong start as their opponents struggled to score.
American Family Field was filled with excitement and cheer as both teams entered their seventh inning without a score. The Brewers retired Myers and brought in Trevor Megil.
While everything seemed fine for the Mets, the Brew Crew opened up with back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Relieving pitcher Jose Butto came in and surrendered both runs to give the Brewers a 2-0 lead.
New York was forced to bring in Edwin Diaz to prevent the Brewers from scoring more runs.

Jake Bauers and Sal Frelick hit home runs tonight
Jake Bauer went deep with a solo shot to put the Brewers on the board. Sal Frelick followed Bauers with a second solo home run of the game. Frelick smashed one deep to right center on the first pitch he faced against Butto.

The Brewers almost made it to the next round to face the Philadelphia Phillies. However, veteran slugger Pete Alonso turned the tables with a three-run home run to give his team a 3-2 lead. Alonso had his biggest hit of the night and contributed to his team when they needed him the most.
Jessie Winker was hit-by-pitch and stole second base with Starling Marte stepping in. Marte smashed a base hit as Winker made a dash home to give his team a 4-2 lead. The Brewers got on base at the bottom of the ninth, but the Mets finished with a double-play and defeated the Brew Crew.
Brewers fans were in disbelief as they watched the game slip away in favor of their opponent.
