The New York Yankees have rolled out one of the best lineups from any team this spring. Their lineup is filled with last season's regulars and does not feature a prospect at all. It's possible that this could be the Opening Day lineup, especially since Gerrit Cole is pitching.
The lineup features DJ LeMahieu leading off as he did most of last year. He was followed by Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, Giancarlo Stanton, Josh Donaldson, Harrison Bader, Aaron Hicks, Jose Trevino and Isiah Kiner-Falefa.
A few positional changes have been made, such as Judge playing left field for the first time and Stanton starting in right field. Regardless of how the left field and shortstop battles play out, this could be a lineup used in the regular season.
Yankees fans are excited to see it and only have a few things they would change about this current lineup.
Many Yankees fans don't want Kiner-Falefa or Josh Donaldson in the lineup, but they're probably going to be featured together quite often - even if they lose their starting spots this spring.
What will the Opening Day New York Yankees lineup be?
This lineup is probably pretty close to what the New York Yankees will trot out on Opening Day. However, there will probably be a few changes. Oswald Peraza or perhaps even Anthony Volpe could be the starting shortstop.
Left field is still open and it's unlikely the Yankees will try both Stanton and Judge in the outfield on the first day of the season.
Here's what the lineup could look like:
- Anthony Volpe, SS
- Aaron Judge, RF
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Giancarlo Stanton, DH
- DJ LeMahieu, 3B
- Harrison Bader, CF
- Gleyber Torres, 2B
- Oswaldo Cabrera, LF
- Jose Trevino, C
Cabrera excelled in the outfield, so unless Hicks plays well in spring, he'll likely be relegated to the bench. Unless Jasson Dominguez continues scorching the baseball, he will likely stay in the minors.
At shortstop, Volpe has done well. However, Peraza has big league experience and might beat him out for the job. Either one of them could be the starter this year.
