New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone has had his hands full so far in the preseason. Despite being the skipper for one of the best teams that modern baseball has ever seen, he has more talent than he can accommodate on the field.
To make matters more complex, the Yankees have received news that two of the five men who were expected to make up the team's starting rotation will miss the start of the season.
However, most of the headache for the New York Yankees surrounds their middle infield. Young prospects like 2019 1st overall pick Anthony Volpe and 24-year-old Venezuelan Oswald Peraza have quickly become fan favorites to play second base and shortstop respectively.
Volpe and Peraza both represent an exciting future for the New York Yankees. Meanwhile, Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Gleyber Torres manned the middle infield for the team last year.
Although Torres' 24 home runs and 76 RBIs bought him patience with fans, Kiner-Falefa could not say the same. After coming over to the Yankees in a trade with the Minnesota Twins last year, the Hawaiian hit .261/.314/.327 with only four home runs and 48 RBIs.

Ahead of the Yankees' March 23 spring training matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals, the Yankees released a roster that has garnered a lot of positive feedback from fans.
The name that has attracted the most positivity is, of course, Anthony Volpe. Volpe is playing shortstop and hitting in the leadoff spot, a position that Boone has used the young 21-year-old a lot at so far in Grapefruit League play.
Moreover, Boone has found a way to keep Gleyber Torres in the lineup. Torres, who is recently back from injury, will start in the DH role on March 23.
Oswaldo Peraza has also been squeezed into the lineup. He will be batting seventh and will play second base. Fans seem to be glad that Isiah Kiner-Falefa is not scheduled to start in the game.
Kudos to the New York Yankees for not being scared to experiment
Granted, when you have a name like Aaron Judge in your lineup, it becomes easier to play around with the other pieces. That said, Boone has brilliantly taken fan input into account while staying true to his players to see what works best. Although some changes before opening day are still expected, the New York Yankees would do well if their opening day lineup looked remarkably similar.
