The New York Yankees were the victim of a perceived poor call from the umpires on Sunday. In the first innings, Spencer Steer of the Cincinnati Reds hit a bloop down the right-field line. Jake Bauers attempted to make the catch but couldn't, dropping it. The umpires ruled it a foul ball.

However, upon review, they reversed the call and ruled it a fair ball and a double. They went even further by saying that Jonathan India, who was on first base, would have scored and awarded them an early 1-0 lead.

Aaron Boone didn't like this and was promptly ejected from the game. Yankees fans were in agreement with their incensed manager, believing that the umpires made a crucial mistake as their team searched for a sweep.

The Yankees and their fans were confused by the umpires' scoring decision. Fortunately, it didn't come back to bite them all that much.

New York Yankees overcome gift run to sweep Reds

That run, whether it was legitimate or not, was the only one scored on Luis Severino and the New York Yankees pitching staff on Sunday. They were lights out the rest of the way.

Harrison Bader provided the go-ahead run with a two-run home run, and the Yankees never looked back. Gleyber Torres hit a home run and Anthony Volpe doubled home a run later to make it a 4-1 game, which was the final score.

The Yankees' victory moved them to 29-20 on the season as they continued their incredible stretch of play. With no Aaron Judge in the lineup, there was no problem as the offense got enough action and the pitching was stellar.

They also didn't miss Aaron Boone, who managed all of five outs before being tossed and sent home early. The team gets an off day to recoup tomorrow after a long stretch of games.
