It's no secret that the New York Yankees have struggled against the Houston Astros in recent years. This was especially the case last season. The Yankees were 2-5 against the Astros in the regular season. They would then get swept in the American League Championship Series.

The Astros have been the Yankees' older brother. They've just been bullying the Bronx Bombers. In the regular season, Houston threw a combined no-hitter against New York.

"They're definitely out kryptonite. I would say that. Even when we played them during the regular season it wasn't pretty" said New York Yankees pitcher Michael King.

If the Yankees want a chance to win a World Series, they're going to have to get past the Astros. There's no way around it.

Unfortunately, it looks like the Astros may be a better team this season. They signed Jose Abreu to give them an extra bit of power in the middle of their order. They also re-signed Michael Brantley, who should have a much better season than he did in 2022, as he was dealing with a shoulder injury.

Houston did end up losing reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander in free agency. But the team has more pitchers than they know what to do with. They'll be okay behind Framber Valdez, Lance McCullers Jr., and prospect Hunter Brown.

Do the New York Yankees have enough talent to take out the Houston Astros?

The New York Yankees had an interesting offseason. First, they were able to re-sign reigning American League MVP Aaron Judge to a nine-year, $360 million contract. While it's unlikely he won't hit more than 60 home runs this season, he's still set to put up big offensive numbers.

Another big signing the team made this winter was signing free-agent pitcher Carlos Rodon. Rodon is a huge addition to this starting rotation.

Last season, Rodon compiled a 14-8 record with a 2.88 ERA and 237 strikeouts. He also led the league with a 2.25 FIP (fielding independent pitching). He'll slot nicely next to Gerrit Cole and Nestor Cortes Jr., giving the Yankees a fearsome starting rotation.

It's going to be tough for opposing hitters to come into the Bronx and score runs. Will Rodon's addition give the Yankees a leg up on the Astros this season? Fans sure hope so. They can't bear to see another year of struggle against this Houston team.
