The Yanks have a few changes to their roster as Anthony Rizzo returned from the injured list. Carlos Rodon started for the hosts, while Alex Cobb took the mound for the Guardians. The Yanks stranded four in the first two innings and both teams were scoreless.
Juan Soto broke out to get the first run in the game with a towering solo shot to give them the lead. The Guardians had a couple of pitching issues as Aaron Judge scored on a wild pitch. Giancarlo Stanton followed Judge, who scored the third run on another wild pitch. Bo Naylor let the ball slip behind him twice, which cost the Guardians.
Joey Cantillo stepped in for the Guardians but was taken out soon after walking Soto. Judge hit a sac fly to drive in Torres as the Yanks took a 4-0 lead at the bottom of the fourth.
The Guardians finally found a breakthrough as Brayan Rocchio smashed one deep to left field to get them on the board.
