Nolan Arenado is one of the biggest trade candidates this offseason, as it looks like the St. Louis Cardinals are going to start a rebuild and try to infuse some more youth into their roster. That means the eight-time All-Star is likely heading elsewhere, and two teams have emerged as potential landing spots for him.

The third baseman has cryptically posted to social media recently, including using blue colors and Kendrick Lamar songs in posts. It may or may not be a hint to where he either is or wants to go.

"I think that's interesting," Jon Morosi said. "Nolan Arenado did grow up as a Dodgers fan... Nolan Arenado is available in trades... I would describe the Dodgers as somewhere on the periphery of the suitors for Arenado. Potentially the Boston Red Sox depending on how they move around their infield."

Both the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers would have to move some players around to make room. The Red Sox have reportedly considered moving Rafael Devers to first base. Devers is also poor defensively at third.

The Dodgers have Max Muncy and a few other infielders that can play multiple positions including third base, and this would likely move them to other spots. Second base and perhaps even shortstop are in play, as Arenado would presumably lock down third base.

Nolan Arenado is open to position change

The St. Louis Cardinals are likely to trade Nolan Arenado, who has said two important things about a possible move. First, he is willing to waive his no-trade clause to join a team set up to contend for multiple seasons. That's where the Los Angeles Dodgers make sense.

Per the Athletic, Arenado also said he's willing to play first base or even DH to provide whatever team he joins with some positional flexibility. He is one of the best defenders ever at the hot corner, but he's only getting older.

Arenado could learn first base or split time as a DH, which makes both the Red Sox and Dodgers possible destinations even though they have established third basemen on the roster right now.
