Dodgers third baseman Kike Hernandez has a flamboyant personality and is a trendsetter within the clubhouse. A lot is coming together for the Dodgers, especially with Mookie Betts back in the lineup, Shohei Ohtani finding his hitting form and Clayton Kershaw back to his pitching best. This warrants celebration and who better than Hernandez to start a new dance step.

On Tuesday, Hernandez hit a double off Brewers' Elvis Peguero in the top of the eighth. After reaching there, Kike showed off his new dance step to celebrate his extra base hit. The dance step involved him funnily pointing out visiting team's bullpen and then its dugout.

When reporter David Vassegh asked about it, he said:

"Not everything needs to be explained."

Setting a trend is not new for Kike Hernandez. Earlier in the season, during spring training, Hernandez hit a double and did a little hip wiggle with hands flowing. Since then, every Dodgers' hit is celebrated this way, with the move catching on.

It remains to be seen if this new-hit celebration catches virality among the Dodgers clubhouse.

Kike Hernandez's decision that may have contributed in his stellar form

Kike Hernandez has been doing well at the plate over the last month. One reason might be his new eyeglasses that he has been sporting since the series against Detroit Tigers last month.

On Sunday, when reporters asked him why he had started to wear glasses, he credited it to a conversation with one of his friends and veteran catcher, Martín Maldonado.

“He told me that him and a couple of his teammates needed glasses, and they didn’t really know through the spring training test,” Hernández said. “They went through a more thorough test [to learn they needed glasses]. So I was like, ‘All right, I’m gonna try it out.’” [via LA Times].

When he went for tests, the third baseman learnt about astigmatism in his right eye. This condition comes when the curvatures of the eye are imperfect resulting in blurred vision.

“It’s funny because he wasn’t seeing spin, and we were trying to figure out what it was,” manager Dave Roberts said. “So once he puts the glasses on, he’s seeing it a lot better, and it actually coincides with him, in my opinion, swinging the bat better, controlling the strike zone and making better swing decisions.”

Since the All-Star break, Kike Hernandez has been hitting .278 and has recorded 11 RBIs. This, in comparison to his first-half performance (hitting .191 and 15 RBIs), has been a big plus for the Dodgers.
