It may not have been the news that MLB fans were hoping for, however, the Los Angeles Dodgers have signed veteran reliever Tanner Scott to a multi-year deal. On Sunday, MLB insider Mark Feinsand broke the news that the reigning World Series champions landed the All-Star pitcher on a four-year, $72 million deal, solidifying their bullpen in a major way.

The signing of Tanner Scott is just the latest in what seems like an endless list of upgrades for the champions. So far this offseason, the Los Angeles Dodgers were able to add several superstars, including Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki, and Michael Conforto, while also re-signing Teoscar Hernandez. At this point, it appears that it might be Los Angeles' World Series to lose.

This is a sentiment shared by former Cincinnati Reds general manager Jim Bowden. The former executive spoke during an interview on MLB Network Radio following Tanner Scott's decision to join Los Angeles on a multi-year deal.

"This is a huge deal for the Dodgers to add another big, back-end power, high-leverage reliever to go with Blake Treinen, that's a huge need in my opinion," Bowden explained on the show.

The bullpen was one of the lingering question marks for Los Angeles heading into 2025. Now, with the addition of Tanner Scott and the others they have signed this offseason, Jim Bowden feels like it may come down Los Angeles vs. everyone else in the league.

"So you took the world champion Dodgers, you brought back all the guys that you need to, including Teoscar Hernandez... and arguably the best left-handed closer in the sport... I don't even know what the odds in Vegas are going to be about the Dodgers winning the World Series but now it;s the Dodgers and the other 29 teams," Bowden continued.

Scott posted his best Major League season in 2024. The veteran split his time between the Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres, setting a new career-high with 22 saves, earning an All-Star selection in the process.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the current betting favorites to win the World Series in 2025

Following the signings of both Roki Sasaki and Tanner Scott, Los Angeles has seen their World Series betting odds increase. On the popular gambling webist FanDuel, Los Angeles have +270 odds of winning the title, with the New York Yankees having the second best odds at +750.

The New York Mets handed out the richest contract not only of the offseason but in MLB history by signing Juan Soto to a 15-year, $756 million deal. That being said, they are currently tied with the Philadelphia Phillies with the 4th best odds to win the title, with both teams sitting at +1100 on FanDuel.
