Nick Castellanos and the Philadelphia Phillies began their three-game series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies were coming off 2-1 and 9-4 victories against the Rays.

Castellanos got his team off to a strong start in the first inning. The two-time All-Star hit a 370-foot home run off Rays pitcher Shane Baz, giving the Phillies an early 2-0 lead.

Castellanos, known for hitting home runs during significant or tragic events, continued the trend with this homer coming on Patriot Day. Several fans reacted, commenting about the home run on the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

“ofc he homers on 9/11,” a fan said.
“Easiest bet of all time. When’s the next tragedy I can bet on? 💀” another fan said.
“Three things are bound to happen in life. Death, Taxes, and Nick Castellanos homering on a tragic day,” another comment reads.

Many other fans continued to react, with some baffled by the unusual pattern.

“Castellanos when he realizes it’s a day of significant tragedy,” a comment reads.
“About five of these untimely home runs ago, I was baffled that it kept happening. One of the funniest phenomena in sports,” another comment reads.
“dude this CAN'T keep happening,” someone wrote.

In the sixth inning, Nick Castellanos helped score another run for the Philadelphia Phillies on Weston Wilson’s single. The Phillies won 3-2 against the Rays.

Rays' Edwin Uceta was suspended after hitting Nick Castellanos with a pitch

During the Philadelphia Phillies' game on Tuesday, Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Edwin Uceta hit Nick Castellanos with a pitch after allowing five runs to the Phillies. Both teams' benches cleared after the incident and Uceta was suspended for three games by the MLB.

According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Uceta’s suspension was later reduced to two games. Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash was also suspended for one game.

Nick Castellanos also spoke about the incident, saying (via MLB):

“I mean, you're throwing a baseball over 90 mph. You're frustrated and you're going to throw at somebody? That's like my 2-year-old throwing a fit because I take away his dessert before he's finished."

The Philadelphia Phillies (87-58), with a .600 winning percentage, continue to lead the NL East. They will begin a three-game series with the New York Mets on Friday at Citizens Bank Park.
