The Los Angeles Dodgers secured a 4-2 victory over the New York Yankees in Game 3 of the World Series on Monday night after Freddie Freeman put the team into an early lead with a home run in the first inning. Freeman equaled a couple of historic postseason milestones with his shot, but the Dodgers first baseman is only focusing on winning the next game to sweep the Yankees in the Fall Classic.

On Monday, Freddie Freeman became the third player, after Hank Bauer and Barry Bonds, to hit a home run in the first three games of a Fall Classic. Freeman smashed a walk-off grand slam on Friday night to beat the Yankees in the opening game of the World Series at Dodger Stadium before hitting another in Game 2 the next evening.

Freddie Freeman told Ken Rosenthal, the on-field reporter for Fox Sports, after the Game 3 win at Yankee Stadium that he's not looking at any personal achievements and remains fully focused on winning the Fall Classic.

"The most important thing is what you just said," Freeman told Rosenthal. "One more win, that's all I care about right now. I don't care how it happens. I just want to get one more win.
"We had a lot of emphasis on game planning and stuff like that," he said. "Obviously, when you come into a road park, you try to strike early and quiet the crowd down. We were able to do that in the first inning."

The Los Angeles Dodgers moved into an early two-run lead, courtesy of the Freddie Freeman homer, which has now tied him with George Springer as the only players to hit a home run in five consecutive World Series games.

Freeman had also hit a home run for the Atlanta Braves in their last two games of the 2021 World Series against the Houston Astros.

Although Freddie Freeman is the hot favorite for the World Series MVP, he failed to get an extra-base hit during the first two rounds of the postseason.

Freeman had been struggling with an ankle injury suffered at the end of the regular season, which severely hampered his production, but the short rest period before the World Series helped him recover sufficiently.

"My ankle is that much better," Freeman said. "That's because, [during] the days off, I was able to clam it down, get some treatment, and then I was able to work on my swing.
"That's the key," he added. "Just been able to find my cue, and I've been seeing the ball pretty good."

Freeman is now just one win away from winning his second World Series title. The Dodgers will sweep the Yankees in the Fall Classic if they win Game 4 on Tuesday night.
