Jason Heyward's 2024 stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers has not been a bed of roses. The veteran slugger has struggled to make ends meet after re-signing with the team in December. Heyward signed a one-year contract with the Dodgers, hoping things would go well.
After his struggling season, the management decided to designate him for assignment. Heyward has a low batting clip of .208 with a .289 OBP and a .682 OPS. The slugger has six home runs and drove in only 25 runs in 173 appearances at the plate.
While the 'Boys in Blue' are looking to make adjustments to their team, Several fans disagreed that Jason Heyward needs to go down for the assignment. In a post shared by B/R Walk-Off on social media about Heyward's assignment, fans quickly shared their thoughts on the news.
"Over Chris can’t hit Taylor!? Guys… come on," one fan wrote on X.
"Did him dirty after his go ahead homer for them the other night," another fan wrote.
"??? Didn’t he just win them the game 2 days ago," one fan asked.
Comments continued to pour in as many fans were unhappy about the decision.
"Jay Hay, the dodgers might be mean for doing this to you but know that we Astros fans are appreciative of your three run homer you hit the other day to bury Seattle for us. Thank you good sir and I wish you the best," one fan chipped in.
"DFA’ing him—right after he had a clutch game last Tuesday—is mind boggling," one fan wrote.
"Not even 48 hours after hitting a go ahead 3 run homer," antoher fan chimed in.
Chris Taylor to take on Jason Heyward's position on Dodgers roster
The Dodgers have made room for Chris Taylor by sending down Jason Heyward. The team requires a utility man to add power to their rotation. With Heyward going on a downward spiral, there is no better option than Taylor.
However, fans beg to differ since Taylor has struggled this season. Taylor is slugging .167/ .277/ .542 with three home runs and 15 RBIs in 162 appearances. Taylor was placed on the IL due to a left groin injury.
