After staying relatively quiet during the offseason, the Atlanta Braves have made a significant move by signing free agent Jurickson Profar. The outfielder entered free agency after his one-year contract with the San Diego Padres ended last year.

On Thursday, Jurickson Profar and the Braves agreed to a three-year, $42 million contract. The Braves clubhouse officially announced his addition on the same day, sharing an Instagram post captioned:

“Welcome to Atlanta, Jurickson!”

Braves fans were thrilled with Profar's signing and flooded the comment section with their congratulations. Now that Profar is headed to Atlanta, his new teammates are ready to welcome him with open arms, and some have already extended their greetings in the comment section.

Profar’s fellow countryman from Curaçao, Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies, congratulated him by commenting with a trio of emojis:

Albies is a longtime Braves player who began his major league career with the team in 2017 and has been with them ever since. He is currently on a seven-year, $35 million contract extension that he signed in 2019.

Braves pitcher Reynaldo Lopez also commented under Profar’s welcome post, sharing his reaction via emojis as well:

“🙌🙌🙌🔥”

Reynaldo Lopez joined Atlanta for the 2024 season after signing a three-year, $26 million contract in November 2023. Soccer player Eloy Room, who plays as a goalkeeper for Belgian Pro League club Cercle Brugge, also reacted to Jurickson Profar’s acquisition by commenting:

“Big move! Congrats 👏🏾🔥🇨🇼”

Jurickson Profar could be a solid addition for Atlanta Braves for 2025 season

Jurickson Profar had an outstanding season with the San Diego Padres last year, achieving a .280 batting average and a .839 OPS. In 158 games played, he hit 24 homers, drove in 85 RBIs, walked 76 times and stole 10 bases.

The 2024 All-Star is set to join an outfield already featuring Ronald Acuna Jr. and Michael Harris II. The Braves could use Profar in place of Acuna, who is still recovering from the surgery he underwent to repair his left ACL tear and is expected to miss the start of the 2025 season.

This was Acuna’s second career surgery, which involved repairing his ACL. Profar, being a switch hitter, also provides additional flexibility to the Braves' lineup.
