Atlanta Braves star Ozzie Albies and wife Andreia were spotted watching an NFL game on Sunday. The couple was seen attending the match between the Atlanta Falcons and the Carolina Panthers at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
In an Instagram update by Andreia, she shared a snippet of her and Ozzie watching what was a pivotal game for the hometown Falcons.
Albies was rocking a red track hoodie with matching red pants while Andreia was sporting a white jacket. The two sat behind one of the field's goal posts as they expressed their support for the Falcons.
The Week 18 NFL game was a part of the league's last set of regular season games before they transition to the playoffs. Atlanta held a 24-17 lead going into the half in the back-and-forth game in a bid to win the NFC South and keep their postseason hopes alive.
However, the young squad ultimately fell to the Carolina Panthers, 44-38, in overtime. The loss, along with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' win against the New Orleans Saints, eliminated the Falcons from playoff contention.
Ozzie Albies' unwavering commitment to the Atlanta Braves
With the modern-day setting of constant player movement to build the next great dynasty, a few players have remained loyal to the cause in the quest for MLB supremacy.
One such example is switch-hitting star Ozzie Albies. The second baseman remains as one of the five remaining members from the 2021 World Series-winning Braves team. Albies, along with Ian Anderson, Orlando Arcia, Austin Riley, and Dylan Lee, have remained loyal to the organization.
On a side note, star Ronald Acuña Jr. was also a part of the squad but had to be excluded from the title-winning lineup due to an injury that he incurred mid-season that kept him out for the rest of the campaign.
A three-time All-Star, Ozzie Albies signed a seven-year, $35 million deal ahead of the 2019 season that will keep him in Atlanta possibly until 2027 if the club option is exercised.
Even though the contract was signed almost half a decade ago, the value returned to the Braves is way more significant than the minuscule amount they shelled out for the decorated star. The move also signified Albies' commitment to the cause rather than the numbers on his contract.
