Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies' love for fishkeeping has led his wife, Andreia, to play jokes on him. The infielder's love for having fish as pets is well documented, with an MLB report saying that Albies has a 10,000-gallon pool of fish at his suburban Atlanta home.

His childhood hobby has continued at his new home in Marietta, Georgia. He houses three freshwater fish tanks, measuring 550, 300 and 450 gallons.

On Tuesday, Andreia Albies shared the widely popular "Sad Pablo Escobar meme" to poke fun at her husband's fondness for fish. The meme, originally derived from the hit Netflix series "Narcos," is widely used to refer to moments of boredom or disappointment.

Andreia's Instagram story features the familiar images of Escobar, played by actor Wagner Moura, sitting in various forlorn poses. The caption reads, "Ozzie when the fish store is closed," followed by a string of laughing emojis.

According to MLB, Ozzie Albies' fish tank at home houses turtles, various kinds of tropical fish and a long arowana, whom Ozzie refers to as "lucky fish."

Ozzie Albies shares love for fish in interview

Ozzie Albies comes from Willemstad in Curaçao, which has some of the best reefs in the world. So, it was natural for Albies to grow up having a fondness for fish and other aquatic creatures.

"My grandfather used to keep koi fish back in 2001, 2002 -- when I was a little kid," Albies tol MLB in an August 2023 interview. "I always had that in my family. We always loved animals."

Albies loves koi fish in particular. They are also sometimes referred to as ornamental fish due to their usage for decorative purposes in outdoor koi ponds or water gardens.

Albies also has a hilarious way of naming fishes. A few of his fish's names are Mango, Orange and Oreo. There's no particular nomenclature for it, though, as he assigned names based on what he felt.

Ozzie Albies is joined by his mother and wife in taking care of his fish tanks. Over time, he has added reefs, driftwood and other similar underwater things so that his fish have a peaceful and native feeling.

"It's relaxing, actually," Albies said in that same interview. "It's not a hard thing to do. It's easy."

Not only that, Ozzie Albies has also installed cameras in the fish tank so he can get back there through the phone and enjoy his homemade sea.
