A rare Paul Skenes card has been discovered. There was one Topps rookie card for Skenes that was signed and featured a patch from the pitcher's MLB debut. The person who found it faced astronomical odds, but they secured the card.
It's a rare and an expensive card. It is likely to continue rising up in value, and Skenes' girlfriend Olivia Dunne has offered the baseball fan a reward if they turn over the card to Skenes and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
She captioned her story:
"Omg someone found it!... My offer still stands."
The offer in question is for the fan who finds it to sit in a suite with her at a home Pirates game. Presumably, they would watch the NL Rookie of the Year pitch. Either way, Dunne is motivated to get her boyfriend and fellow LSU alum the rare card back.
Pirates offer incredible haul in return for Paul Skenes card
Olivia Dunne isn't the only party trying desperately to get Paul Skenes' 1/1 rookie card back. The Pirates themselves are trying to get the card back from the fan who pulled it, and they've offered an incredible haul if the fan chooses to do so.
If the fan returns the card, they will receive the following:
- Two season tickets behind home plate for the next 30 seasons.
- Meet and greet with Skenes.
- Two autographed Skenes jerseys.
- Private softball game for up to 30 guests at PNC Park with Pirates alumni serving as coaches.
- Private tour of Pirates city and Lecom Park.
The fan would also get the suite experience with Dunne, who volunteered that herself. Skenes had a dominant rookie season, so it's no surprise that there's such an offer for his card.
It's impossible to predict what's next for the pitcher, but if his rookie season is any indication, he's going to continue being one of the most impressive pitchers in baseball. If so, the card's value will only rise. Eventually, the proposed trade by the Pirates may not be worth what the card can be sold for.
