With a long and grueling MLB season coming to an end, first baseman Pete Alonso and his wife, Haley, appear to be making the most out of the offseason to spend some quality time together. After traveling up and down the country throughout the season, the couple recently opted for a change of scenery as they jetted off to Paris for a relaxing vacation.
Haley Alonso is quite popular on social media, with over 27,000 followers on Instagram, and often posts about her day-to-day life as a baseball wife. As the Alonsos headed to the City of Light, naturally, Haley explored the city and documented everything while she was at it.
While both attended college in different parts of the country, Pete Alonso (Florida) met his future wife (Michigan State) while he was playing in the Cape Cod baseball league. The couple went on to maintain a long-distance relationship while they finished off their respective university degrees before eventually getting engaged in 2018. The pair tied the knot in Tampa, Florida, in 2021.
Pete Alonso thanks wife Haley for her support through historic 2024 season
Despite a poor start from both Alonso and the Mets in 2024, both eventually improved and finished strong. The Mets reached the NLCS for the first time since 2015, eventually bowing out to champions-to-be LA Dodgers, while Pete Alonso turned up with some big hits towards the end of the season, the biggest of which was the NLDS-clinching three-run homer that turned a two-run deficit into a one-run lead in the Wild Card Series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
As the years have gone on, Haley Alonso has seen her husband make his big league debut and go on to become one of the best active first basemen in the majors. Through it all, she has been a pillar of support for the 29-year-old, always present at Citi Field to cheer him on.
The recently concluded season was no different, and free agency is now coming for Alonso.
In an Instagram post made by Pete Alonso after the Mets were eliminated from the playoffs, the first baseman recognized his wife's immense support, as he posted a heartfelt note of thanks for his better half.
Now, with a pause in the baseball action, Pete Alonso will no doubt be looking to rest well and decide his next chapter in free agency. Spending plenty of time with his wife will be at the top of the list since it might not be possible in earlier months of the year due to the hectic playing and travel schedule for MLB players.
