On Saturday, the New York Yankees flamethrower Gerrit Cole pitched for 5.1 innings against the Texas Rangers at Yankee Stadium. Cole gave up a single run and six hits, bringing his season ERA to 4.70 across 46.0 innings in nine games (3-2 record).
The reigning AL Cy Young winner received special support from his eldest son, Caden, who attended Saturday's game with mommy Amy, Cole's wife. She shared a picture of Caden on Instagram, wearing a Yankees cap and pinstripe jersey number' 45.'
After missing the first half of the season due to an elbow injury, Cole returned to the mound in June. However, with his 51 allowed hits and 24 earned runs, it's evident that he has not found his last year's rhythm when he delivered a 2.43 ERA performance.
The Yankees are 70-49 this season and are almost guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. If they hold onto the momentum, they might even receive a bye as well.
Gerrit Cole's adorable moments with his son during live game
This is not the first time Caden, Gerrit Cole's eldest son, cheered his dad in person. During Cole's season debut at Yankee Stadium in June, he came to support his dad.
When Cole was in the dugout, Caden waved at Cole, and he smiled back.
In 2020, after Caden's birth, Cole said:
"He's a good mix of his dad and his mom. He's absolutely adorable. He's got big blue eyes and gosh, I just can't stop staring at him.” (via Associated Press)
Cole and Amy got married in Nov. 2016 at the Ritz Carlton in Santa Barbara, California. Almost three years later, they welcomed Caden Gerrit Cole and their second son, Everett, on January 2023.
