Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez etched his name into the history books on Sunday. The star slugger hit for the cycle against division rivals Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park in his team's 6-4 loss in the series finale.
However, it wasn't just Alvarez who had a special time at the ballpark on Sunday. A baseball fan, Amy Franz, had one of the most memorable nights of her life.
When Alvarez took Bryan Woo deep in the fourth inning for his 20th home run of the season, the ball ended with Franz in the lower deck of the stands.

Despite being a Mariners fan, Franz cherished the moment and put out a message for the staff at the ballpark to retrieve the home run ball.
"It’s worth more to him than me being as he hit for the cycle," she wrote. "Please find a way for me to get it to him."
The baseball community received her message well, and she got to meet the Astros star after the game. Alvarez gifted her an autographed ball after being reunited with the home run ball.
"For those wondering, I was able to congratulate Yordan and give him the piece of history that he earned. I did not ask for anything in return, but he made sure that I received an autographed ball to show his appreciation. Congrats Yordan, and thanks for the ball."
Yordan Alvarez gets candid on his historic accomplishment
Yordan Alvarez started the night by hitting a single in the first inning. He added a home run in the fourth, followed by a triple as Mariner outfielder Julio Rodriquez dropped a catch off a fly ball. He hit for the cycle with a double in the eighth inning.
However, the three-time All-Star was surprised after his historic feat:
“Not even in PlayStation,” Alvarez said on ever hitting for the cycle in his career before Sunday.
“I’m very excited,” Alvarez added. “I felt a little bit of pressure there, but I knew I needed a double and when I hit the ball I said, ‘There it is.”
Yordan Alvarez is the 10th Astros player to achieve the feat and only the second to do so at T-Mobile Park. Jose Altuve was the last Astros player to hit for the cycle, in 2023 against the Boston Red Sox.
