Dylan Cease has clearly been enjoying his debut season with the San Diego Padres. After being traded from the Chicago White Sox back in March, Cease has quickly become arguably the top arm on the Padres pitching staff. He continues to bounce back after a disappointing 2023 campaign.
There were some question marks surrounding how well Dylan Cease would perform in San Diego. However, he has silenced most of his doubters. After proving that he can successfully pitch in the National League, Cease is now showing off some of his off-field talents also.
The Padres ace took to social media to post a photo of his abstract art. These featured autographs from some of his teammates, including Manny Machado, Jackson Merrill and Joe Musgrove.
While nobody is making the case that Cease's paintings place him next to the likes of Vincent Van Gogh or Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, his multi-faceted personality is admirable.
Cease has even used his passion for the arts for charitable purposes, serving as a volunteer instructor for a Chicago non-profit organization called Misericordia. This was back when he was a member of the White Sox.
While there are positives and negatives of social media, it's posts such as Cease's that allow fans to get closer to their favorite stars.
Dylan Cease and the teammates in his painting are looking to secure a postseason berth
The MLB postseason continues to get closer with each passing day and the Padres currently hold on to one of the coveted National League Wild Card spots.
That being said, Dylan Cease and the rest of his teammates who signed his artwork will be doing their best to hang onto that position by the time the postseason starts.
The San Diego Padres hold onto a slim four-game lead over a number of clubs. However, they will need to continue to fend off the likes of the New York Mets, San Francisco Giants and Cincinnati Reds, who are lurking right behind them in the standings.
If painting is something that helps Dylan Cease focus and continue to dominate on the mound, someone in the Padres organization has to get him as much paint and canvases as he wants.
