Mookie Betts recalled how he asked Brianna Hammonds, his now-wife, out for the first time

According to People, Mookie Betts and Brianna Hammonds first met in middle school and started dating shortly after. In an interview with Ebony in December 2021, Betts reflected on the moment he asked his now-wife out:

“When I finally asked her out, she said she didn’t hear me, but she heard me…So the next day I end up asking her again. I’m thinking, You get one shot. I only have but so much courage, I’m pacing in my room and thinking, I ain’t asking again. I don’t know what [made] me ask again. She said yes and my MySpace status changed.”

Betts is coming off a stellar 2024 season with the LA Dodgers becoming a three-time World Series champion following their victory. He posted a .289 batting average with 19 home runs, 75 RBIs, and a .863 OPS last season.

Betts will enter his sixth season with the Dodgers in 2025, continuing his 12-year, $365 million contract.
