On Sunday, MLB trading card manufacturer Topps confirmed the release of a Paul Skenes rookie debut patch card. Aside from having an authentic game-worn patch, the card also features his autograph.

The card is a 1/1, meaning only one copy exists, so it is the ultimate collector's item. It can be found in one of the new Topps Chrome Update packs, which are set to release on November 13.

On November 10, Topps took to X to give fans a sneak peek into the design of what will surely be a highly sought-after card.

The first overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, Paul Skenes made his debut in the big leagues against the Chicago Cubs on May 11, 2024 at PNC Park. Though it wasn't a 'perfect' start by any means, as he allowed three earned runs, Skenes showed great potential, as he struck out seven batters.

As the season continued, Skenes continued to deliver on that potential, as he went on to have an incredible rookie season, even being named in his first All-Star game. At the end of the 2024 campaign, he had a 1.96 ERA, with 176 strikeouts and an 11-3 record.

With how he performed as a 22-year-old, if he continues to stay healthy, Skenes has all the tools to go on to be arguably the league's best pitcher in the years to come, which will only add to the value of any rare memorabilia.

Paul Skenes named Baseball Digest's NL Rookie of the Year

Having completed an incredible first year in the major leagues, naturally, Pittsburgh Pirates prodigy Paul Skenes is one of the candidates set to contend for the 2024 NL Rookie of the Year award. The other major candidates for the big prize are San Diego Padres center fielder Jackson Merrill, Milwaukee Brewers leadoff hitter Jackson Chourio and fellow starting pitcher, Shota Imanaga of the Chicago Cubs.

On Thursday, November 7, the popular magazine 'Baseball Digest' named Paul Skenes as the winner of their version of the award.

With this win, Skenes becomes the first Pirates player to be named Baseball Digest's NL Rookie of the Year since Jason Bay won the award in 2004. Skenes is the odds-on favorite to be named as BBWAA's choice as well, with the official MLB version of the award set to be announced on November 18.
