Former MLB star Trevor Bauer pitches well when it matters the most. The Cincinnati Reds fans would know it, and his current team, Diablos Rojos del México, also got a first-hand experience about it on Friday.
With the postseason underway in the Mexican League, Bauer pitched Game 5 of the semifinal series against the Guerreros de Oaxaca. With the series tied 2-2, Bauer was at the helm to help his team take the lead in the seven-game series. The contest, which finished on Friday, was marred with two rain delays.
However, that didn't stop Bauer from still putting up an excellent pitching line. He threw seven innings, allowing only five hits, one earned run and zero walks while striking out 13 hitters. On the back of his performance, Diablos earned a 9-1 victory.

Trevor Bauer's agent, Rachel Luba, shared his stats on social media after a fan, Carl Balaban, was amazed by Bauer's performance.
"I think that is the more impressive part. Rain delays can ruin a pitchers groove but it doesn’t seem to have effected Trevor too bad last night," Balaban wrote on X.
"Absolutely. But Playoff Bauer is a different breed," Luba wrote while reposting the post.
How did Trevor Bauer perform in the MLB's postseason?
Though Trevor Bauer no longer pitches in the MLB, he was once a standout pitcher, earning a Cy Young in his 2020 campaign.
The major part of his career came with the Cleveland Guardians, for whom he played between 2013 and 2019. However, he hit his prime after going to the Cincinnati Reds and playing two seasons there in 2019 and 2020.
With both the Reds and the Guardians, Bauer pitched in 11 postseason games, going 1-4 and posting a 2.94 ERA, including 44 strikeouts. His postseason exploits were also one of the reasons why the LA Dodgers signed him to a three-year, $102 million contract with opt-out options after the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
However, before he could perform with a postseason-bound team, Trevor Bauer faced sexual assault allegations, which put him on administrative leave, followed by a suspension of 194 games for violating the league's domestic violence policy.
Though he has been cleared from every lawsuit, he still hasn't been able to get back to majors after last playing with the Dodgers in July 2021.
