David Ortiz is one of the best designated hitters in Major League Baseball history but has also built a large family, and being a father is incredibly special to him. He has four children as his son Diego was born on April 24, 2024.
David Ortiz posted a picture on Instagram on Wednesday holding his youngest son. The caption that was included was not a description of the photo but rather a heartfelt message that his youngest can one day look back on.
When translated to English, the caption read:
"My child I promise you that as long as God gives me life and health I will be by your side supporting you and teaching you everything that is within my reach so that you will be a good man for society like your brothers.... I love you little @4diegoortiz4"
David Ortiz Sees Oldest Son Drafted By Red Sox
David Ortiz and his girlfriend Maria Yeribel Martínez are busy taking care of their infant son Diego, but the Hall of Famer also has an older son following in his footsteps. The Boston Red Sox selected D'Angelo Ortiz in the 2024 MLB Draft that took place in June.
David has continually expressed a deep sense of pride in his oldest son, and he will now be his biggest fan as he tries to get to the Major Leagues. After seeing his son selected by his former team, the slugger couldn't hide his excitement.
"That was unbelievable. It’s a great feeling when you see your kids moving forward in their life ... A lot of emotion goes through you. Big boy, let's do it. Let's keep up the good work, daddy loves you," Ortiz said.
