On Saturday, a clip from LA Dodgers star Mookie Betts' recent appearance on the "All the Smoke" podcast was posted to X (formerly Twitter). The eight-time All-Star was in conversation with former basketball players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson.

In the video, Betts talked about how he still shares a great relationship with Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora and enjoys watching the Red Sox in action, despite leaving the organization as a free agent after the 2019 season.

Plenty of Red Sox fans took to X to comment, lamenting the organization's mistake of letting one of its best players walk.

"Red Sox ownership should have to hear about this forever," a fan wrote.
"Red Sox got fleeced in a trade because they chose to be cheap. They deserve to never hear the end of it," another posted.
"Yes. I’ve long said Ruth, Betts, Orsillo - all terrifyingly haunting losses," another fan commented.
"It literally took the team 86 years to live down trading Ruth. Hopefully, this curse will end quicker," another shared.
"Instead we have that fat*ss Devers," another fan wrote.
"It’s better hearing it from him than our 98 year old owner who can’t even face the piper and show up to a fan weekend because he’ll get boo’d off the stage. At least mookie gave closure," another commented.

Mookie Betts has gone from strength to strength since leaving the Red Sox to join the Dodgers

When the Boston Red Sox did not put a satisfactory offer on the table, Mookie Betts decided it was in his best interest to look at options elsewhere. Eventually, the 32-year-old decided to join the LA Dodgers, who promptly signed him to a long-term deal.

Since joining the Blues, Betts has only further improved, winning four All-Star caps, four Silver Slugger awards and two World Series titles, the latest of which came in 2024.

Along with fellow superstars Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts has formed arguably the most lethal top three in the MLB, capable of deciding the outcome of any game by themselves on their day.
