Alex Bregman has currently grabbed a lot of attention from different teams as he entered his free agency period right after the previous season. Bregman is currently in the sights of the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and even his previous team, the Houston Astros.
The Houston Astros hit the headlines this offseason by trading their star player Kyle Tucker to the Chicago Cubs to get Isaac Paredes, Hayden Wesneski and top prospect Cam Smith in return.
The Cincinnati Reds Hall of Famer Sean Casey stated the best possible option for the third baseman in the latest episode of "The Mayor's Office with Sean Casey."
"If he doesn't go back to the Astros, I just think Boston makes so much sense for Bregman. He's one of the best, you know, if you go look at visiting players' batting averages and OPS and all that stuff, Bregman's the top guy, you know. That green monster plays so well for his pull swing, he hits line drives," Casey stated.
"You could put Bregman at third, gives you that Gold Glove over there. I mean he's so good over there in the hot corner, I just think it would make sense so I think those are the two places. If he doesn't go back to Houston, which I do think that's going to happen, like I said now with Tucker being in Chicago, I would have to think that Boston would be his best place to go," he added.
Casey believes that the best fit for Bregman after Tucker's Chicago move would be the Boston Red Sox if he does not return to his former team, the Houston Astros.
Sean Casey doesn't see the New York Yankees as an ideal spot for Alex Bregman
In the same episode, Sean Casey also talks about how the New York Yankees are showing interest in acquiring Alex Bregman in this offseason. However, Casey is against this decision because of the 2017 Astros cheating scandal, which took away the chance for the Yankees to play in the World Series that year.
There have been rumors about the Yankees wanting to look over the past and secure a deal with Alex Bregman. Casey has voiced his opinion on the matter.
"I don't think Yankees. I mean the Yankees are talking about him and we were talking about that he's like the Evil Doctor for the Yankees," Casey said.
"All those things that happened back in the day he was kind of the Enemy of the State. And I just think for his swing, that's a pretty good drive out there to left you got to hit at Yankee Stadium. I just think with having the Crawford box all those years in Houston, now having the green monster it's just like boom, it makes sense."
It's to be seen where Alex Bregman signs the deal for the upcoming 2025 season.
