It did not take long for veteran utilityman Amed Rosario to find himself a new home, as according to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the 28-year-old has been claimed off waiver by the Cincinnati Reds. Last week, the Los Angeles Dodgers surprised nearly everyone when they designated Rosario for assignment after trading for him only a few weeks earlier.

The Cincinnati Reds are an intriguing landing spot for Amed Rosario, who should provide the team with quality at-bats right out of the gates. Another reason why Rosario is a perfect addition for the Reds is because of his defensive versatility. The veteran has experience at multiple positions, including shortstop and in the outfield.

Heading into Sunday's action, the Cincinnati Reds sit 5.0 spots outside of the final National League Wild Card spot. Rosario will need to perform as soon as he gets in the lineup if they are going to reach the postseason. This shouldn't be too much of an issue for Rosario, who has posted an impressive .305 batting average this season.

At this stage of the season and with the trade deadline in the rearview mirror, landing a proven talent such as Amed Rosario could pay massive dividends for the Reds. It remains to be seen where Rosario will slot into the Reds lineup, but with significant injuries to stars such as Matt McLain and Christian Encarnacion-Strand, he should see plenty of opportunities.

Amed Rosario will be joining his third team this year despite strong performances

It's been quite the year for Rosario, who signed with the Tampa Bay Rays this offseason. Even though Rosario was a productive hitter for the team, the Rays struggled all season, leading to a massive trade off of veterans, including Randy Arozarena, Isaac Paredes, Zach Eflin and Rosario himself.

The utilityman was sent to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the trade deadline in exchange for minor league pitcher Michael Flynn. It was expected that Rosario was going to play an important depth for the team given its production struggles in the outfield. However, after only five games, he was DFA'd.

Rosario now finds himself on his third team this season after being claimed by the Reds. The veteran will hope that this move will be the last of the year, so he can establish some sort of consistency after a hectic few weeks.
