Roki Sasaki might be the most intriguing name remaining in free agency. While several superstars are waiting on their next deal, such as Corbin Burnes and Teoscar Hernandez, the sky-high potential of Sasaki and financial availability for all clubs make him a much-watch asset.

Thanks to the rules for signing foreign players, since Roki Sasaki is under 25 years old and has not played in more than six seasons, he is considered an international amateur. Because of this designation, he cannot sign a mega-contract like Yoshinobu Yamamoto did, this opens the door for more clubs to pursue him, even though he has been heavily linked to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Although the Dodgers might be considered a frontrunner to land Sasaki, several clubs will undoubtedly be in pursuit of his signature. One such team is the New York Yankees, who have already added to their rotation this offseason by signing Max Fried to an eight-year, $218 million deal.

New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman is aware of the superstar potential that Roki Sasaki possesses, while also praising the Japanese phenom's blazing fastball velocity. MLB insider Bryan Hoch reported that Cashman has expressed interest in bringing him into the fold.

“His intent is to be one of the game’s greatest pitchers on the planet. We certainly would love to participate in allowing that to happen," Cashman said about Sasaki.

It will be interesting to see how Roki Sasaki's free agency plays out since throwing the most expensive contract offer at him is essentially off the table. Much like when Shohei Ohtani came into the MLB, teams will need to present their plans for Sasaki, and the player will need to determine his best fit as opposed to the biggest offer.

Roki Sasaki will have teams lining up in the hopes of signing him

The 23-year-old starting pitcher will have until January 23 to decide whether or not to sign with an MLB club. If he does not, he will return to the Chiba Lotte Marines of NPB’s Pacific League for the upcoming season. The fact that he has been posted by the club shows his intention of making his potential jump to North America.

Even though the Los Angeles Dodgers are considered the favorites, several clubs have been linked to the pitcher as well. The San Diego Padres, Texas Rangers, New York Mets, Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs are also viewed as potential landing spots for the Japanese ace.
