Former World Series champion with the Atlanta Braves in 2021, infielder Ehire Adrianza announced his retirement on Tuesday. Adrianza is retiring after a 12-year career in the big leagues with five different ballclubs: the Giants, Twins, Braves, Nationals and the Angels.
The 35-year old Venezuelan made his big league debut with the Giants in 2013. His last season was with the LA Angels in 2024, playing just eight games with a .192 batting average, one home runs, two RBIs and .596 OPS.
After being placed on the IL due to back spasms, Ehire Adrianza was subsequently released from the roster on June 15. In his retirement post on Instagram, Adrianza wrote:
"Today, I address all of you with a profound sense of gratitude and emotion as I announce my retirement from professional baseball. This journey has been incredibly challenging, filled with ups and downs, but every step along the way has been a blessing that I cherish immensely.... Today, I close this chapter of my life, but the memories, friendships, and love for baseball will remain with me forever."
Some Venezuelan-born ballplayers commented on Ehire Adrianza's heartfelt retirement post. These included Dodgers INF Miguel Rojas, Braves OF Ronald Acuna Jr. and ex-Giant Gregor Blanco.

Ehire Adrianza voiced gratitude for his 12-year long MLB career
In his post, Ehire Adrianza shed light on winning the World Series and career spanning over a decade in the big leagues. He wrote:
"Since my childhood, I dreamed of the possibility of winning a World Series, a goal that once seemed so distant and almost unattainable. However, thanks to my effort, dedication, and the unwavering support of each one of you, that dream has become a reality.
"I still find it hard to believe that I have had the honor of playing more than a decade in the Major Leagues. I never imagined I would achieve so much, and it's amazing to reflect on this experience."
In his retirement post, Adrianza also thanked his family members, trainers, teammates and fans for their love and support throughout his professional baseball career.
